The Journal Diaries- Stefany's Drawing Pads

The Journal Diaries is a blog segment where we get a sneak peek into the journals, notebooks, organizers, and diaries from people all over the world. (Click here for past posts.) My special guest today is Stefany from Chile.

- Tell us a little more about yourself. When did you start drawing/sketching and how long have you been doing it for?
My name is Stefany, but people call me Teffy or "Pequeña" (little.) I am 18 years old and I'm from Chile. Since I was a little girl I was interested in drawing and painting, but just when I was around 13-14 years old, I started trying "chibi" style. I think just this year I have got a result that I really like and I feel comfortable with. Also I have received a lot of love from different people who tell me that they like my artwork. That makes me happy  .

- When do you find yourself journaling? (When you're sad, happy emotional, nostalgic?) What inspires your artwork?
Mostly I write when I'm sad or extremely happy (when something incredible happens to me), but lately I have chosen to write everyday to remember the most of things I have done, because I have a very bad memory!

A lot of things inspire me, but mostly artwork from illustrators or photographers. I like to save pictures or photographs that have something particular that attracts my attention (like clothes, the angle of the picture, the pose of the person, etc). Also, I like to watch the details during my day so I'm usually inspired from different things.

- Where is most of your artwork created?
Mostly my artwork is created in my house, especially in my bedroom where my desk is located. This year I started to enjoy drawing in different places like in the bus, relatives' home when I visit them, in university or in some place that I could have a little bit of time for it.

- What are your favorite journals to use, and what do you like most about them?
My favorite journals to use are drawing pads or notebooks with different types of paper inside. I really like the comfort drawing pads give me when it comes to drawing. I like from my second notebooks that I can keep it full of memories or inspiring quotes with pictures, leaves, flowers, stickers, etc. My personal journal has a story inside through illustrations. It's about a friendship between a fox and a hen, and I find it very adorable .

- Do you carry your journals around or do you keep them stored someplace?
Right now I'm in another city so I bring them all, but I usually keep them in my desk. The ones that I always take with me are my drawing pads/sketch books, my agenda and a little notebook to write the things I have to do (I usually forget everything) or to write/draw some ideas. Also I take with me 2 little notebooks, one for sketches (ideas to draw) and the other one for vocabulary, I write words that I don't know their meanings from books I have read.

- What are your favorite stationery tools at the moment?
I think they would be my stickers sets, paper sets, envelope sets to do letters, different types of post-it (with different colours and some ones with "Rilakkuma" character on it) and paper clips. Also I like my scotch-band holder, it has a dog shape and my kitty stapler.

- Do you have any favorite stationery stores, shop or brand?
I don't know if I have a favourite store, but I really like some ones from my city (Temuco), they're "Casa&Ideas" and "Antártica." The first one I can get a lot of notebooks with different designs and pretty cute stationery things. The second one is a bookstore where I can get notebooks a little more pricey, but with a great quality (like my "Little Prince" agenda) and tombow pencils that are great for my drawings. Also I really like a district from Santiago (capital of Chile), it's Patronato where there are many stores with cute stationery things (mostly korean).

- Other than your journals, what are some of your other hobbies?
I think they're more than simple hobbies, but I love photography and doing craft. I always take pictures and I hope to improve everytime. Recently I got a new camera lens that I just love. About craft, I haven't had enough time to do things, but I hope to start doing it when I come back to home. I have bought a lot of tools and I have so many ideas that I want to do. Also I love reading so I can say that it's a "hobby" that I got a few years ago.
